Lee College considers discarding the preferential ballot due to heavy tallying and unfairness. With up to twelve nominees per office, counting requires recording dozens of numbers per ballot and risks errors, prompting the Student Council to favor general rules for future election planning.
The council considers nominating by petition to improve seriousness and length of consideration for student offices. It would reduce joke candidacies and help voters learn candidates points of view and leadership abilities. Campaigning and publicity would boost interest in Student Association affairs and editorial work on the LEE LANTERN and LEE LOG.
The San Jacinto H oliday on the 21st and McCarthy speech anchor a playful college column. Students, teachers, and staff map summer plans from travel to work, with classmates sharing pranks and light notes about exams and finals.
Hollywood cartoon studio UPA creators rise beyond Disney style with Gerald McBoing Boing Mr Magoo and Thurber inspired works. Mad magazine Ballyhoo and True appear as satire sources while comic humor expands to animation and live film formats reported with enthusiastic tone.
