Morris head elected to royalty as Curtain Club continues rehearsals for Eugene O Neill Ah Wilderness. Drama class performs April 12 and 13 under Mrs Lynn O Hagan. The comedy follows teen Richard Miller and his romantic missteps amid parental disapproval and a quest for maturity.
The college library adds about 90 volumes this month covering recreation reading required reading and research. New Oxford Universal Dictionary Prominent Women of Texas American College Dictionary and Behind the Academic Curtain enhance psychology and education texts. Fiction and drama include Young Lions Fountainhead Summer and Smoke and The Sky Is My tipi plus Texas State Directory and Houston Buyers Guide. Gifts add The USA The New Deal in Action and Dictionary of Gems with Britannica Yearbook 1942.
Dean Walter Rundell and President George Gentry returned from the American Association of Junior Colleges meeting in San Francisco and an inspection tour of California junior colleges. They visited Chaffey Mount San Antonio Fulton Santa Anna and Beverly Hills along with Los Angeles campuses and toured the Redwood Forests.
The LJC hour on KREL features three radio programs themed Science the Basis of Material and Social Progress. Alvin H. Miles opened the series on March 15 with chemistry, followed by Geo Nelson on physics, Joe Harris on biology, and Charles Bonner on mathematics assisted by Florence Neill and Ruby Barham.
National Fine Arts Week prompts a tri county art exhibit at Lee Junior College Baytown April 7 13 open to artists ages 7 to 70 from Harris Liberty and Chambers counties all mediums accepted original paintings only must be mailed or delivered to Miss Minnie Alice Robertson art dept Lee Junior College Baytown Texas frames required judging by Mary Lou Jones Ann Harrel and Ann Bateman prizes are honor awards only public may view daily 2 to 830 pm in the college library
