The library will not issue books Thursday or Friday while a move of the stack area into the reference room occurs for repairs after the February 8 fire. Students must check out books by Wednesday. the periodical room remains open as a study area. Reissuing begins Monday once the move is finished.
Lee College's John Dewey chapter of the Texas Student Education Association earned the top honor as the most outstanding junior college chapter at the state convention in Corpus Christi. The chapter also earned honorable mention for its yearbook. Betty Thompson was named programs chair for Area J. the trophy will become permanent after three consecutive wins.
Regents select an architect for upcoming academic buildings as a Lyceum talk features Dr. R H Montgomery on Thursday at 10 10 am in the auditorium. The retired UT economics professor will discuss intergroup relations and is noted as a famed lecturer with recent Houston speaking engagements.
The Lee College play production class received a good rating for The Pot Boilers at the Texas Junior College Speech Teachers Association one act festival in Kerrville. Becky Camp won honorable mention as best actress for the Mrs Pencil performance.
Herr Mayer from Nord ham Germany studies English at Lee College in Baytown during his first semester. He plans to finish a two year program here and then attend a senior college. Mayer spent eight years at sea rising to second officer and sailed on about a dozen ships. He lives with relatives on Tri City Beach Road three miles north of Crowley’s Fishing Camp. His hobbies include photography and he finds American football confusing. He enjoys Hogan’s Heroes on television and attends St Paul’s Lutheran Church. He likes Baytown for its cleanliness and small size.
Library books due since February 8 were due March 1 and must be renewed or returned now. Overdue items prior to the fire remain overdue on the same fine basis and should be checked in immediately.

About 475 area high school seniors attended Lee College Monday for the largest Senior Night yet. Charlie Mickel led announcements and officer introductions, Dean Alton Laird gave a welcome, with entertainment by Myster the Magician, Minstrels Three, and a one act play The Pot Boilers. Campus tours and refreshments followed, ending with a Mark IVs dance.
The Lee College building program advances as an architect is named for additional projects. Plans for the technical vocational complex are complete and will be bid. Mr. Davis is authorized to proceed with academic buildings and mechanical system plans. Regents approve a $24,846 bid from Chatham Construction Co. of Baytown for library repairs after the Feb 8 fire.
Eleven council members announced plans to attend the Student Council State Convention at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi. The event runs March 31 to April 2 with private cars providing transportation. The group includes President Charlie Mickel and members Luz Tyler Mary Karen Lyon Debbie Adams Mary Riggs Meredith Curry Diana Vaughn Bob Floyd John Tucker Will Budd and Carolyn Morris.
