Film on War Entry Makes Third Program on American Issues

The Bay town Committee on American Issues presents the third program in its United States in World Affairs series with War Came to America. Dr. Julian Spring presided at the Lee College auditorium on Wednesday evening January 12. The Army Pictorial Services documentary traces U.S. entry into World War II using historic clips and notes. February will cover U.S. foreign policy toward Western Europe. Open to the public and Lee College students without charge. Clarence Schultz chairs the committee.

Grant Brady Named Intramuralists

Gloria Grant and Jack Brady were named Intramuralists and will appear in the Personalities section of the Lee Log. Selection is led by physical education instructors Miss Peggy Haskel and Alton Laird for leadership, sportsmanship, and point standing. Their intramural records have featured on the Lee Lantern Sports Page this year.

Students Named to Lee Log Personalities Section

Shirley Cuzzort and Glenn Taylor freshmen along with Jeanine Dillen and Jimmy Richards sophomores hold top grade point averages for the first nine weeks. Honors allow pictures for yearbook copy, with Shirley and Glenn leading the field on straight A records. Others listed include Joe Chandler Carl Gerber Thomas Dale McManus Burke Murdock Rosemary Geffert and Kathryn Riggs with averages near the second decimal.

Lee College Hosts High School Seniors Tour and Game

Lee College invites seniors from Barbers Hill Crosby Dayton Deer Park La Porte Liberty Galena Park Pasadena Robert E Lee and Texas City to tour the campus register for an 6 p.m. open house and attend an 8 p.m. basketball game against South Texas Junior College. A floor show and party with dancing and games follow with refreshments.

Lee College Faculty on LC Radio Program Highlights Courses

Lee College music instructors Miss Ethel Brust and Miss Jeannine Hager discussed the new music appreciation course and other music department activities on the Lee College radio program “Lee College Calling” aired Sundays on KREL 1360. The show features campus news, a college bulletin board, and informal student group interviews, with the Jan 23 segment focusing on spring academic offerings. Gloria Gay Minter shared students’ perspectives as veterans enter college this semester.

Houston Museum Art to Be Shown in LC Gallery

Prize winning pictures from the Houston Museum of Fine Arts will be shown in February at the Lee College Art Gallery. The month highlights adult professional art with a gallery reception and public school tours. Current exhibit by Eva Mae Massey McCurrey runs through Jan 21 with ten oils in surrealist and modern styles.
