Honor Roll Lists 18 Students Led by Alice Sparks

Alice Sparks heads the first semester honor roll with 60 points. Eighteen students total earned top marks. nineteen received honors for A grades in varying course loads. The list includes Charles Williams Ramona Holcomb Sacaris Johnnie Gibbs Lord Gibbs and others with 39 to 60 points.

LJC Radio Series Broadcast on KREL February 8

The third LJC radio program will air Tuesday February 8 at 7 30 over KREL with a round table discussion by psychology students under Mrs Lois MacGuffie. The semester series explores "To Think is to Be Alive" and February 15 features child psychology classes in charge. Students urged to listen or mention to others.

Psychology Subject of Radio Talks at 7 30

The next three KREL radio programs air at 7 30. On February 8 Mrs. Lois MacGuffie speaks on Knowledge of the Self Essential to Clear Thinking. February 15 features field classes in child psychology led by Mrs. Lois MacGuffie. February 22 covers Thinking with Language with Lois MacGuffie Gladys Ellis Lynn O’Hagan and J F Koenig.

Students Register for Second Term at Local College

Four hundred and twenty three students have registered for the second term with more registrations expected. The college adds two new occupation courses Selling and Stock Keeping and now offers 88 classes for the spring term. An English class for Spanish speakers will meet at De Zavala school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 45 to 9 15.

Party Planned by Council for February 19 at LJC

The Student Council outlined plans for a school gym party at 8 p m on Saturday February 19. A questionnaire will be distributed among LJC students to decide games and entertainment. Booths will host bingo fortune telling darts and refreshments with prizes. Final plans will be discussed at the next council meeting.

Lee Log yearbook goes back on sale for two weeks

Students are urged to buy the Lee Log yearbook as it returns to sale for two weeks starting February in Lynn. Dudley, editor, says clubs must plan and submit pages by March 1. Norma Jean Bruggeman works at John M. Kilgore's yard as a bookkeeper since September. She graduated high school in 1945 and plans to attend LJC next year then Texas for business, with a possible minor to be chosen. She values Baytown and southern people, calling herself a converted Texan.

Ah Wilderness to be Curtain Club next production

Curtain Club's Play Production class sponsored by Mrs. Lynn O’Hagan will stage Eugene O’Neill’s Ah Wilderness in early spring. Richard Miller, a seventeen year old social rebel, discovers his family’s values as he pursues romance with Muriel and faces a radical critique of life.

Last Call for Annual Snaps Prompts School Photo Day

Dean Walter Rundell says names of student body counsellors will be announced in the next issue of the Lantern. Counsellors are faculty advisors who guide students through problems with grades instructors or personal issues affecting progress.

LJC Talent Supports March of Dimes Show

The March of Dimes Show at Robert E. Lee auditorium drew strong talent from LJC. Four acts from College Stunt Night performed January 7 under Mrs Gladys Ellis, including the Flora Dora Girls and the Barbership Sextet, plus Gene Well's My Wild Irish Rose and a Style Show of beach wear.
