Dean Walter Rundell announced that second term schedules are available and students should register promptly though fees may be paid later. The main change is three day classes moving to Monday Wednesday Friday with beginning sections in English 1 European History American History Math 310 Business English Office Practice Speech and Drama Journalism Music Appreciation and Chair Business Math Typing Office Machines.
The Lee College Library has added almost 500 volumes in the last three months, bringing the total to nearly 12,000. Librarian Sylvia Stern notes a wide mix including bound magazines, reference works, and general circulation titles. November additions cover diverse subjects for students.
Curtain Club opened its season with The Bridegroom Waits and The Wedding on November 29. A crowd of about two hundred applauded the witty scenes and costumes. Joy Powell stood out as Aunt Henry in the second work, adding comedic charm.
Lois Helen Bettinger and Cecil Scott chosen as Duke and Duchess of Lee College for the Coronation Ball at Sam Houston State Teachers College Huntsville. Events include a Friday reception, Saturday tours and rehearsals, and a Saturday night coronation in the SHSTC gym with visiting royalty.
Gamma Phi Kappa announces a Christmas party scheduled for Saturday night December 10 at 7 o clock at the home of Dolly Moskowitz. Patsy Jo Williams, president, stated the event details.
The Lee College student council hosts a Christmas Party Dance on Saturday December 17 at 7 30 in Lee gym admission is fifty cents with proceeds funding the spring formal and annual picnic. A less formal social function replaces the orchestra with a Wurlitzer to provide band entertainment and games and a floor show.
A radio dramatization of O Henry story The Gift of the Magi will air on KREL December 14 under Mrs. Lynn O’Hagan. Cast includes Catherine Baker Ann Ruth Schmadl Dolly Moskowitz Olive Genne Bailey and Joe Chandler with Joy Powell assisting in script writing. The plot follows a poor couple each buying a thoughtful Christmas gift. The husband sells his watch to buy combs for his wife while she cuts her hair to buy a chain for his watch.
Christmas holidays begin after classes on Tuesday December 20 and resume Monday January 2. Dead Week runs January 6 to 12. Final exams January 13 to 19. Second term registration January 23 with classes starting January 24.
