Delco to Speak at LC Convocation with Honorary Degrees
Rep Wilhelmina Delco will headline a noon to 1 pm convocation on Oct 25 in Rundell Hall Auditorium at Lee College. Honorary degrees will be awarded to five individuals including Ed Watson, Thomas Gray, Reggie Brewer and Victoria Taylor Walker, with Delco also receiving a degree.

Blue ribbon panel to scrutinize dorm issues
A Blue Ribbon Athletic Committee will review Lee College athletics this fall focusing on the unruly athletic dorm near campus at 101 S. Whiting. The dorm houses 15 players, has caused last year’s 5 733 vandalism repairs, and faces neighbor complaints. The panel reports to the Board of Regents.

Lee College to Hold Public Hearing on Tax Increase Oct 11
Lee College Board of Regents voted to raise taxes from 13.75 to 14.86 cents per 100 assessed value, an 8 percent increase. Public hearing set for 7 p.m. Oct. 11 in Rundell Hall Board Room. The board renamed the Moser Hall counseling center to the Gertrude Teter Counseling Center and rescinded David Carnahan’s resignation while approving five honorary degrees for Thomas Gray Reggie Brewer Victoria Taylor Walker and others.

Minority enrollment up at Lee College this fall
Minority enrollment at Lee College rose this fall from 1987 levels. Black students increased 21 percent to 435, Hispanics up 16 percent to 381, and other minorities such as Asians and Indians up 17 percent. Committees sponsored events like Step Up to Success Fiesta de Graduacion and the Black Gala to boost access. Since 1985 Black enrollment grew 36 percent and Hispanic 52 percent.
