Panel backs LC athletics amid 9-1 vote approval
The Blue Ribbon Committee approved the current Lee College athletic department standards and direction by 9-1 with two abstentions at the Oct. 5 meeting. Endorsement will be presented to the Board of Regents, as members reviewed funding for 1988-89 totaling 241,730 for recruiting equipment travel scholarships and dorm upkeep, down from last year’s 251,996.

Pickup stolen from Rundell Hall lot near LC campus
Oct 6 a 1988 white and gray Ford F-150 was stolen from the Rundell Hall parking area as owner Janice Guidry of Batson left campus around 3:20 pm driving east on Texas Avenue. The vehicle was unlocked with keys absent and a .38 revolver inside. Police response took about 20 minutes.

Two Lee College instructors to take spring sabbatical for history book
Muriel Tyssen and John Britt of Lee College American Studies will take sabbatical in the spring to write a book focusing on students. The manuscript will include 10 to 14 student papers with photos and bios, edited student articles, and may feature work previously published in Touchstone. Publication is planned in the LC print shop with funding by Friends of Lee College and sales through the Bay Area Heritage Society.
