Board considers interim Lee College president in 5-2 vote
Board of Regents voted 5-2 to search off campus for an interim president as Don Coffey and Bill Blake dissented. They favored keeping Vice President Tom Sanders as acting president until Dr. Vivian Blevins is replaced. Blevins departs Oct. 21 to become chancellor at Ranch Santiago Community College in California. Coffey noted desire for a Texas familiar interim and avoiding multiple temporary admins. The board plans to hear from consulting firms ACCT and UT on a nationwide search with an estimated cost near $25,000.

Regents Vote to Raise Lee College Taxes 4.6 Percent
Lee College board of regents voted to raise property taxes 4.6 percent from 17.168 to 17.96 cents per $100 of valuation to cover a 392000 deficit for the 1991 92 budget of 19485593. They set public hearings for October 3 and 14 and may adopt the rate after the hearing.

Lee College Considers Photo I D Cards For Campus
A new Lee College Security Services Information and Advisory Committee met September 10 to discuss photo I D cards for students and faculty to aid intruder identification and library checkouts. Costs range from eight to eleven thousand dollars upfront with per card 45 to 48 cents plus film. implementation possible in January for summer term students. The panel also plans hall monitors near security phones and a campus wide codeword system for emergencies.
