Enrollment rise boosts LC state funds for 95–97
Lee College will receive more than 240000 dollars in increased state funds for the 1995 1996 and 1996 1997 school years due to higher enrollment and contact hours. Registrar and Dean Tom Sanders note head count up over 3 percent and contact hours up over 5 percent with five 91 dollars per counted hour.

Caribbean Club fundraiser barbecue shot at Goose Creek Park
A 25 year old Houston man was shot three times at a August 14 fundraiser barbecue at Goose Creek Park linked to the Caribbean Club. Police say the suspect turned himself in and charges, if any, were not available. Club officials deny college sponsorship and say the event aimed to help kids and the Caribbean Festival draw over 4000 attendees.

First Caribbean festival draws large crowd at Lee College
About 4,000 attended the first Caribbean Carnival sponsored by the Lee College Caribbean Association at Bicentennial Park on August 27. Moses and Rawlins cited live bands from Houston, theatrical performances, and a parade with Egypt tribute costumes. Proceeds were directed toward a Caribbean Club scholarship fund with sponsors including Lee College, Citizens Bank and Trust Co., Bank One, Exxon, McDonald’s, Luna’s, and the City of Baytown. Grand Design aided organization and Lee College Student Congress contributed 4,500.

Olympic growth urged by IOC official on campus
