Shortage of competition plagues SC swimmers
Coach Micki Rios notes Texas junior colleges seldom field swim teams, leaving SC swimmers to face university JV squads and rely on early meets to meet nationals qualifying standards. The 12-member squad trains twice daily, with fall meets leading to the National Junior College Meet at spring's end. Local scholars from Baytown Clear Lake and Pasadena fill the roster as recruitment continues.
