Lee College Regents Set Tax Increase At October Meeting
Lee College Regents plan a 10 percent tax increase above the effective rate of 12.537 cents per dollar, aiming for a new rate of 13.0 cents. The move would raise about 152,983 dollars above the 1986-87 budget of 14,636,424. Voting for the proposal were Claudia Smith Wayne Gray Don Coffey Oswall Harman and Gwen Altwein. opposed by Mike Bargainer John Adams and Alden Weaver. A public hearing was held at Moody Center prior to the decision.

Coburn Named Regent at Lee College Board of Regents
Baytown dentist Dr Keith Coburn has been unanimously elected to the Lee College Board of Regents to fill the seat vacated by Dr Walter Buttrick in July. Coburn, 386, will serve until the 1988 election and plans to run then as a bona fide candidate. A Baytown native and 1975 UT Dental Branch graduate, he previously practiced in Highlands before relocating to Baytown in 1979.
