Colleges eliminate recognition of greeks
Colby College last year withdrew recognition for all greek organizations and opened the campus without greeks this fall. Amherst followed, while many schools tightened scrutiny, with Florida Duke Lehigh and Dartmouth investigating and charging chapters. National leaders express concern but aim to raise standards, as some campuses ban or reform fraternities amid debates over misconduct and safety.
