Jerry Austin named dean of instruction at LC
The Board of Regents approved Dr. Jerry G. Austin as dean of instruction vice president at Lakeland College LC fills the last vacancy after Dr. Jim Sturgeon’s resignation. Austin comes from Illinois Valley Community College with about 15 years in higher education and will coordinate Tech Voc, academic, and student services deans. He plans to assume duties before November.

Snack bar expands as cafeteria at Lee College closes
The Lee College snack bar replaces the cafeteria in Moser Hall after a summer 1977 closure. It now serves hot meals 11:30 to 1:00 with 80¢ for one meat and 35¢ for two vegetables. Enrollments and a new stove, steam table, and salad bar are planned with hopes to double or break even.

Fall issue killed new bids sought
The student magazine Reflections will not be published this semester as the Board of Regents did not approve a printing bid at its September 22 meeting. Bids will be sought again but not received in time to print an issue this semester. Editor Mark Brazzil said plans call for one larger issue next semester. Taylor Publishing submitted the lower of two bids, but prices rose after opening and the bid was not accepted.
