Present Student Senate members propose disbanding the Senate and replacing it with a voluntary Student Activities Committee to perform its functions. The committee will have up to 14 enrolled students, require at least six semester hours and a 2.0 GPA, and be chaired by the Dean of Students to select participants. It would take effect in fall 1981 if approved by voters.
Lee College, Lee High School, and Sterling High School join the Baytown Symphony for a December 2 concert in Robert E. Lee Auditorium at 7 30 p m featuring Antonio Vivaldis Manificat with solos for two sopranos a contralto a tenor and a bass The program also includes The Many Moods of Christmas arranged by Robert Shaw and Robert Russell Bennett plus three English carols Deck The Halls Nativity Carol and Shepherds Pipe Carol The combined chorus about 75 performers is conducted by Ivy Ingalls for Lee High and Xina Stone for Sterling, with admission free for LC students and guests The event is open to the public.
A university proposal would abolish the present Student Government and create a voluntary Student Activities Committee. Voting occurs December 10 and 11 with polls in Moser Hall. If approved, the new body would handle all SG functions and require 14 members with a 2.0 GPA and six semester hours.
LC Drama Dept presents The Odd Couple a Neil Simon comedy at Fine Arts Theatre on Dec 5 6 and 12 13. Oscar Madison played by Charlie Pierce and Felix Unger by John Cotton share a living space causing clashes and laughs. Cast includes Speed Murray Roy Vinnie Gwendlyn Pigeon Carver Cecily Pigeon and others. Curtain at 8 p.m. admission 3.00 per person.
The city of Baytown and the Baytown Community Center will sponsor an art show from December 6 to January 3 with $2,000 in cash awards. Entries must be submitted November 17 18 and 19. Rules and guidelines available from the Fine Arts Department or Eva McMurray, chair of the Parks and Recreation staff.
