Lee College pioneer Rundell served as dean from 1945

Memorial service for Walter Rundell set at Rundell Hall
Friends will speak at a 2 p.m. memorial on November 16 in Rundell Hall Auditorium for Walter Rundell former dean of Lee College who died November 4 at 86 in Round Rock. The service will be officiated by Rev. P. Walter Henckell with music by Tom Stone and Charles Stephenson. Eulogies will be given by Gertrude Teter Roland Armstrong and Dan Mendoza, with Teter once a psychology instructor and counselor at LC.

Regents implement Peat Marwick plan at LC
Three months after the Board of Regents endorsed Peat Marwick and Main recommendations the college began implementing them. Seven of 24 urgent items, including purchasing controls and criminal background checks, are complete. A new purchasing agent may be hired to carry out ensuing steps as work progresses across purchasing general accounting accounts payable payroll personnel and fixed assets. The audit followed the indictment of former purchasing coordinator Kyle Jennings for theft.

Lee College officials expect a near $35,000 jump in student assistant payroll when the national minimum wage rises to 3.80 by April 1990 and 4.25 by 1991. Budget amendments or department cuts may be needed as reserve funds and current allocations cover only part of the higher pay.

Lee College buys a $3700 parabolic satellite dish to receive teleconferences from anywhere in the country. The one way video system allows live interactive feedback via telephone and will serve students, staff, and local businesses while surveys guide further use and partnerships.
