The Student Government sponsors a four day blood drive at Moser Hall from November 15 to 18. Donors must be 18 to 65 with restrictions on health and travel. Eligible individuals should visit the hall during listed hours to donate for the Institute for Hemotherapy.
LC faculty member Vance Jacobs starts a new Outdoors Club with support from over 50 students. Aims include conservation and ecology, with activities such as camping fishing hiking canoeing and hunting. A duck hunting seminar is planned for Wednesday November 2 and future trips may visit Padre Island and Guadalupe River.
Ed Moak dean of Student Services says recruitment is weekly activity exposing the public to LC services and programs to enroll new students. A campus committee reviews reports on recruitment efforts and plans future direction ahead of a mid November planning meeting.
The Student Government plans November projects including a $500 semester donation to the First Presbyterian Church day care center for LC students. They will publicize LC across the college district and service area. Senators will handle 100 pop-up casels with postpaid cards to inform area high schools and obtain permission for locations.
Lee College now covers emergency room treatment for injuries during class. San Jacinto Hospital will treat LC students, with LC paying ER costs and the student’s family remaining responsible for hospital stays and physician recommendations. The move is praised by Dean Ed Monk and Dr. Robert Cloud as a growing student service.
