LC set to award 381 degrees at May commencement
Degrees will be awarded to 223 graduates at LC on May 10 at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium with 134 in caps and gowns. A reception follows in Moser Hall patio. Honor honors include Walter Rundell and Gertrude Teter Scholarships, with Hall of Fame announcements and other awards. Guest speaker is Academics Dean John McCormick, retiring this semester. LC also awards 148 degrees at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Center in Huntsville.

SC elects new officers for 1991 92 at Friday meeting
Student Congress chose officers for the 1991 92 year and postponed action on a proposed $23 000 student activities director funded by student service fees. Mercedez Renteria questioned the cost amid budget cuts while others sought more detail on how funding would transition to the administrative budget. New officers include Renteria as president Castellanos vice president Robinson president pro temp Green secretary and Nifong parliamentarian. Induction scheduled for Friday at John Tucker Hall. The group also reported $5 064 pledged to the Tim and Kelly Bell Scholarship fund and noted $168 000 of requested club funding against a $188 000 available pot. A cram session is planned 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday in Bonner Hall.

LC College Players present their final Pruett Street performance of Naked to the Waist through Sunday at 8 p.m. with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. The reader’s theater production features actors Stephen Jones, Scott Hiebert, Raymond Blanchard, Camille Bresse, Helen Martinez, Kathryn Dowler. director Lynette Jones notes the move to 711 W Texas Ave will expand the program. Admission is a donation to the Theater Scholarship Fund.
