Western Week at Lee College promotes March events and contests
Lee College hosts its annual Western Week from March 16 to 20 with events including cow-chip throwing and tobacco spitting contests, a beard growing contest, and a dance. Activities begin Monday with a Shane screening and culminate Friday night with a western dance at Knights of Columbus Hall.

Rape Prevention Seminar Held At Lee College Rundell
The Greater Baytown Chamber sponsors a March 14 seminar in Lee College Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with speakers Baytown police officer Roger Lawrence detective Joyce Diaz and Baytown Medical Center official Sharon Register. Topics include passive defense releases self defense tactics and safety tips for women traveling or living alone. Eight rapes were reported in Baytown in January 1981, a 700 percent rise from the previous year and the largest in years. All women are urged to attend.

LC Regents to reorganize TDC teaching program
The Lee College Regents voted at the Feb 26 meeting to phase out campus based instructors from the Texas Department of Corrections at Huntsville teaching program by 1984. LC will continue to offer academic courses at the prison using on site instructors. Currently 19 campus instructors teach at Huntsville across multiple sections.
