Collin Teague a 20 year old Lee College freshman campaigns for Baytown mayor against incumbent Tom Gentry. He proposes a municipal golf course downtown revival a mass transit system drug reform and a larger post office to boost business and address city spending and worn streets.
LC President Dr. Robert Cloud hosts monthly sessions with LC Student Government leaders to discuss campus environment and student services. Participants include Susan Mims, Dean West, Elizabeth Pearce, Debbie Davis, and Debbie Renfro, who stress closer ties and constructive dialogue.
Contestants must be 17 to 28 years old, single, and graduate high school by Labor Day before national finals. The pageant takes place April 23 at Ross Sterling High School Auditorium with events from March 15 through April 23 including talent, interviews, dress rehearsals, and poster pickup.
Three Lone Star College journalism majors will join the Beta Phi Gamma national junior college journalism fraternity at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association conference April 14 16 in San Angelo. Brazzil Cummings and Portis held Lantern and Reflections roles and will attend with about 16 peers for workshops contests and speakers including Bill Moyers CBS News Commentary.
