Honors Day celebrated Lee College recognizing over 75 students
Lee College marked its second annual Honors Day on April 19 in Rundell Auditorium led by President Jackson Sasser. The event honored more than 75 students for achievements in applied science, academic studies, and campus, regional, and state contests, with numerous departmental and club awards also announced.

Famous author draws large crowd at Lee festival
W P Kinsella appeared at the 1994 Spring Literary Arts Festival on April 6 delivering readings from Shoeless Joe and Field of Dreams. He signed autographs for about 45 minutes as about 180 people attended in Tucker Hall. Other writers Beatriz de la Garza Rolando Hinojosa Steven Cramer Janet Lowrey and LC students shared work and readings. Total turnout reached about 550 with strong student engagement and positive feedback from organizer Dr. Marianne Loyd.

Nat Eisenberg president of Economic Advisory Services spoke at Lee College on March 30 under the Tucker Lecture Hall title Is Rush Limbaugh Lying About Clintonomics. He argued Limbaugh misreads Reaganomics and Clinton era policy and claimed government policy has little overall impact on the economy while predicting a Clinton 1996 re-election if Republicans oppose universal health care.

ISA Clothing Drive Brings 37 Outfits to Needy Children
Melissa Bartlett of Instrumentation Society of America led a local clothing drive assisted by Tex Sanderson and area churches Garfield A Baptist Victory Baptist and Northside Baptist. The program distributed eggs containing clothing sizes to church members who bought outfits for underprivileged children. Three weeks of collections yielded 37 outfits delivered by ISA to recipients.

About 1,000 personalized Beach Patrol dog tags were sold for five dollars or given free with a product, as college students flocked to the beach after spring break. Jennifer Carter, promotions director, said she was amazed by the fad.
