LC Webb Society wins special award for project at state history conf
After two months of work the Lee College Webb Society claimed a special group award and placed third in the individual division at the Texas State Historical Association convention in San Antonio. The group project covered Big Thicket political controversy with a written report and taped interviews.

LC groups cancel tour offset losses with local concerts
Lee College Jazz Ensemble and the Leesure Singers will perform at area schools to recover a deficit of 11 684 after the failed country music festival. Regents voted 5 4 to pay the groups for local appearances. Plans include engagements at Lee Sterling Huffman Dayton and Barbers Hill high schools and several junior high schools with a potential May state tour.

Students may submit nominations for the Lee College Hall of Fame to Benny Moskowitz or Dean Ed Monk's office by April 24. A committee of faculty will select four outstanding students based on accomplishments activities honors and personal qualities aiming to recognize contributions and preserve college history.

Piper nominees announced for Lee College
The Lee College Piper Award nominees are Kenneth Scheffler of the business department and Mary Sue Bloomfield of the English department. Statewide winners will be announced in April. The Piper Professor program honors outstanding higher education teachers recognized by colleagues for influencing future leaders, LC vice president Jerry Alston said.
