Special to The State describes odd events in Greenwood and Abbeville counties. A pistol ball entered a negro youth’s ear and lodged in his mouth, he then swallowed it during fright. Other reports include a lightning strike killing a cow, a king cobra-like moccasin found in a bed, and a fatal gun butt assault.

Camden October 13 the county executive committee upheld the managers report confirming JS Trantham as the sheriff candidate after a contested election. The ruling closes the disputed election dispute and solidifies the nomination.
Oscar Prince, a white man, was captured with a wagon load of liquor by state constables. He pleaded guilty to transporting liquor and paid a $100 fine.
