Happenings In The State Segro Woman Butchered
In Scranton Caroline Singletary a colored woman who vanished a week earlier was found dead in the woods. Her throat was cut ear to ear and a deep wound on her left side. Her husband Noah Singletary is suspected of the crime. Also reported from Saluda county a fratricide as Lark Glover killed his brother Arthur after a dispute over a cow sale and foreclosure. The elder brother used a knife and the other drew a pistol fatally wounding him.

Gomez to Receive Fifty Thousand After Signed by Palma

Murder Shocks Bamberg as Supplier of Death Faces Jury
Bamberg, Nov. 20. A prominent merchant M. M. B. Varn was killed on Main Street with two blows to the head. Two men fled, tracks show two assailants. the sack with $8 to $10 disappeared, a pocketbook held silver and a $5 bill. Three suspects, Joe Robinson Ned Warren Tom Matery, jailed. Rewards totaling 400 dollars offered. No solid clues yet.

Gift to Furman Endowment Prompts Decisive Drive
Dr Charles Judson, Furman University dean, announced a $20,000 gift to the university endowment with the condition that the $100,000 fundraising goal by December 1 succeeds and that an additional $5,000 be raised. Two Mexican War Veterans Die in Charleston Area
Albert Seizmore of Greenville county and Charles Brennecke of Westchester New York, both veterans of the Mexican war, died yesterday at their homes. They joined Company F Palmetto regiment in Charleston, organized by Louis F. Roberson. Seizmore and Brennecke were 77. Palmetto regiment now has fourteen survivors, two in Charleston. Brennecke was the sole survivor living outside South Carolina. The Andrew Jackson silver cup, once shown at the 1902 South Carolina exposition and now in Columbia, will go to the last survivor.
