Lazy Ginning the Crop Report Confirms 1902 Cotton Output

Census Bureau figures show cotton ginned through Oct 18 reach 3,530,027 commercial bales, down from 5,025,872 at the same point last year. State totals list Texas leading with 1,059,920 bales and sizable outputs across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arkansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, and others. Final 1902 production data will be released with next reports in November and December.

Dead Burglar's Mystery in Yorkville DC

Nov 6 The package given to Dr. Dalin by Calvert the burglar who blew open Forest City safe was opened today at 3 PM. It contained a note to the dead brother in law stating the man wished his wealth to go to his brother in law and that his ring should go to Baby. The identity of the woman and the brother in law is not disclosed.

White Man Cadle Lynched by Mob at Jail Entrance

A mob of 10 to 15 men seized I C Cadle from the jail this morning and shot him four times before hanging him from a telephone pole. Policeman J C Cox died after being cut in the altercation. The coroner's jury ruled Cadle's death a lynching by parties unknown.
