The shop promotes new stock and up to date merchandise with low prices. Latin Stripe Lawon fabrics available at 5 cents. Striped and plain fast color prints offered at 5 cents. A range of goods priced 8 to 15 cents attracts quick sales.
Rine Shoes, slippers and oxfords feature women kids and nurses styles. Sandals with one two or three straps arrive. Prices are low with items at 25 50 75 cents 1.00 1.26 and 1.50. Garments described as well trimmed with lace and embroidery.
Men fill a summer wardrobe with light breezy shirt waists and trousers. New lot of sample shirts and pants offered at 60 cents on the dollar, with prices 35 40 50 and 60 cents for shirts normally worth 50 cents to 1.00.
Our millinery business reports strong demand with two stocks selling quickly and the third moving fast. Mise Evans earns praise for appealing designs bringing favor from town and country. Prices this season are unusually low including a banded sailor hat at 20 cents.

A Odessa dispatch dated April 26 reports a ferry disaster on the Dnieper near Katchkarovka. A sudden storm caused panic as pontoons swamped. Nearly a hundred mothers with babies drowned, with only a few survivors found by boat. Three clung to a swimming horse that reached shore. The village was largely left parentless.
An advertisement extols Scott's Emulsion of Cod Liver Oil as essential for appetite, strength, and cheer, claiming it restores appetite, lightens the burden of food, brings healthful plumpness, and makes work brighter. invites readers to try it despite a questionable rendering of taste, signing Bowne Chemists and local druggists.
A disastrous Jacksonville fire raged May 3–4, burning 140 to 180 blocks and destroying 1,300 homes and numerous public buildings. Loss estimates range from 10 to 15 million dollars with 10,000 to 15,000 left homeless. Military and dynamite were used to halt the spread as residents fled with belongings.
Edgefield May 4. The remains of Mrs. Preston S Brooks, death announced at Norfolk Va about six weeks ago, reached Edgefield yesterday afternoon at 4 25 and were laid to rest by the wife of her husband Col A R Brooks of Columbia and other family members. Pallbearers were N G Evans, John C Sheppard, W W Adams, T W Carwile, Capt DuBowe, and Dr J W Dill.
A noisy 19th century style advertisement touts Cascards Candy Cathartic with C C C branding and warns against fraud. It promotes relief in six hours for kidney and bladder diseases by New Great Health American Kidney Car, claiming prompt bladder and back pain relief and immediate water retention relief. Sold by J F Mackey & Co in Lancaster and nearby towns.
In the Florida House Mr. Wall of Putnam introduced a bill to abolish liquor saloons and create a state dispensary based on the South Carolina model. The measure, framed as a lobby bill, proposes using all dispensary proceeds to fund highway construction with an expected net of 61,000,000 per year. Supporters say it will advance the good roads movement and exempt tourist hotels from regulation.
St Mathews May 4 Mr H F Inabinett living two miles from town suffered a serious accident at Farnum s mill last Tuesday while trout fishing. While handing a Springfield rifle to someone it discharged striking him below the knee then entering the body above the knee and exiting the shoulder. Dr L Pou and A K Able were summoned and he is reported about out of danger.
