A Lexington Township tale notes John T Sink Jr. killed a hag with a cash rich owner. Weighing 508 pounds, he claims raising 117 pigs from the sow, selling them for 362 dollars. Including current pork value, he calculates total earnings of 377 40 from one hog. A man true to himself is a friend to everybody.
In Poplar Grove March the Boer leaders Kruger and Steyn rallied troops after a rout caused by French cavalry and British artillery. Despite their urging, the infantry fled the field as men faced overwhelming fire and a surrounding cavalry sweep. News from Roberts in London confirms the heavy defeat and disarray of Boer forces.
Mrs Graddick maintains innocence in a poisoning death referenced by arsenic found near the fireplace. She asserts someone else poisoned her husband and blames a spiteful worker named swamy. No bond decision this April term, with court remarks limited by counsel.

Davis and Powers were seized on a train bound for Lexington amid a large armed police response. both wore disguises and carried pardons from Gov Taylor.
Powers and Davis disguised in uniforms slipped aboard a Chesapeake and Ohio train from Frankfort Kentucky toward Lexington. A squad of soldiers from the governor's mansion halted the train just before departure, but Powers and Davis escaped the net and disappeared with deputies unaware.

Kentucky faces near civil war during the legislative session as Democrats and Republicans mobilize militias. In Frankfort, around 200 state militia at Taylor’s grounds, 600 private drivers, and a newly formed militia company near the Capitol. Rumors of an attempt to seize Gov Beckham circulate among factions as two days remain in the session.
Boston reports ex governor Franklin Moses, once a leading Southern figure, appeared in East Boston district court on harassment charges. Moses, resident of Winthrop, allegedly diverted funds from a municipal campaign to others. Complainant Ward Thoreton managed the winning candidate’s campaign. Hearing set for Saturday at East Boston court.
