New Orleans Cotton Convention Chooses Harvie Jordan Chairman

The Southern Interstate Cotton convention met in New Orleans with 1135 delegates from 13 cotton states and territories. Harvie Jordan was unanimously chosen president and the body pledged to curtail production and fertilizer use, organize farmers, and create bonded warehouses to stabilize prices.

25 Percent Acreage Cut Plan Endorsed by Cotton Growers

New Orleans Jan 25 cotton convention votes 25 per cent reduction in acreage and an equal cut in fertilizers. Plan aims to unite farmers across the belt with state and local sections financing remaining holdings. Banks and commission men pledge aid to market balance and weatherproof storage. A wide display of support follows remarks by McLaurin and a Roosevelt demonstration. An invitation to Capt Richard P is extended.
