Waterford Ireland Jan 11 The steamer Zeno arrived with the captain and 12 men of the American steam dredger Texas from Dantzie via Southampton Dee 12 for Galveston which foundered off the Hebrides. The crew entered boats but one con towing the chief officers and 21 men sank and all drowned. Survivors drifted days before rescue. They say just prior to sighting the Zeno they drew lots to decide which should be killed to provide food.

A Japanese legation telegram dated today from Tokyo reports General Nogi says Port Arthur delivery is complete. It lists fifty permanent forts, 504 guns, 82,670 cannon balls, 30,000 kilos of ammunition, 36,259 rifles, 1,928 horses, four battleships and the Travastopol sunk, plus 14 gun boats and ten steamers destroyed. A Mukden dispatch says Kuropatkin’s army is reinforced by 32,000 infantry and 368 siege guns, totaling 388,000 men and 1,254 guns.

Linkous Sentenced to Hang for Wife Murder at Radford
James Linkous, yesterday convicted at Radford of wife murder, was sentenced by Judge Cassell to be hanged on February 17 in Roanoke. He will be brought to Roanoke tonight for confinement until the execution date. On Christmas Day he killed his wife and their adopted son, locked them in a room, set fire to the house, and burned the bodies. Linkous proclaimed his innocence when asked to stand for the sentence.
