Steam Ship Wreck Disaster with Large Casualties

A two masted steam vessel of about 2000 tons went ashore before dawn on Thursday at the foot of the reef near St Marys. The crew launched boats but most perished as the wreck burned and sank. Residents saw the blaze from six miles away as the ship burned amid winter cold and heavy seas.
