Lynching Reported After Jail Break in Northampton
In Raleigh on December 98 Gov Aycock signed a special court order for Northampton to try Peter Mitchell a negro accused of assaulting white Mrs Lucinda Mill. A telegram announced citizens seized Mitchell from Jackson jail last night and lynched him.
