Explosion Kills Four at Nashville Railroad Camp
In Nashville Tennessee on February 24 J K Martin a white man and two Negro workers Joe Voutree and William Bennett were killed by an accidental dynamite blast at a western outskirts railroad camp. Bodies were mangled unrecognizable and the cause remains unknown. The white man was hurled 150 feet and fragments of one worker’s body and clothing landed 75 feet away in a street.

Fire destroys Mississippi Female College in Meridian
A fire at 3 AM destroyed the main building and laundry of the Mississippi Female College in Meridian. The blaze consumed the residence of Mrs. B. F. Ormond and two houses, with about 200 girls in the building saved in their night clothes. The college will resume sessions in temporary quarters.

Beulaville special dispatch reports Bud Cooper shot his wife Jennie Helton a 17 year old resident of Reidsville then killed himself in Lynchburg Inst night after a jealous dispute. The pair had moved from Reidsville to take positions at Lynchburg Cotton Mills and had been quarrelling. Jennie was leaving with friends when Cooper ordered her not to go and fired on her then turned the pistol on himself. Mrs. Cooper was struck near the right ear with a grazing wound, not immediately dangerous.

In Frankfort Indiana on February 24 Earl Wood a 17 year old farmer’s son shot and killed his father fatally wounded his mother and sister then fatally shot himself. He told neighbors robbers attacked the home and later tried to organize a posse before vanishing behind a barn where he fell. An investigation found him dying from a chest wound.
