Cherry Tree Investment Defendants Sentenced in Owens Case

The December term court in this city handed sentences in the Cherry Tree swindle case. Lawrence Pullin of Asheville received five years in federal prison in Atlanta after embezzling $7,000 from the National Bank of Asheville. Others faced various penalties, including fines of $1,000 for Dr. J. Beight and $500 for F. Greer and G. W. Rollins, with several awaiting further terms or conditions. The case left victims not recovering any funds, as court orders directing recovery of paid sums primarily cover costs and fines.
