Union County Farmer Robbed by Highwaymen

Special to The State from Jonesville on December 4 reports Oliver Eaves, a local farmer near Jonesville, robbed by four Black men on his way home after selling cotton. robbers took about six dollars held in Union. Bid tops $75,000 in Fairmont mill sale

In Spartanburg on December 2 at public outcry master in equity J. J. Burnet oversaw the sale of the Fairmont cotton mills. A single bid of $75,000 was placed by Col. Joseph Walker. English press comments on Roosevelt’s message and Lord Rothschild suggests protection may be extended to England.

Trespass Notice Warns Against Entry on Local Lands

A strict trespass warning is posted by W. B. Plyler two miles west and two miles south of town. It bans walking riding hunting cutting wood or entering on the Jasper Cuningham and Chafee placer and on the J. P. Punter lands, with enforcement promised.
