Special to The State from St. George on November 28 reports a mob of 200 to 800 men forming in Ross after an assault on a young woman by a negro at Rogs station. John Fogle was captured, hanged in a swamp area, and the victim was bruised and choked but survived. Bloodhounds traced the suspect to his den.
An advertisement denounces lack of respect for the aged while praising Dr. King's New Life Pills. It claims the pill cures dyspepsia jaundice fever constipation and other ailments regardless of age, priced 25 cents at Crawford Bros J F Mackey Co and T Eugene Funderburk Drug Store.
In Savannah Georgia Eli Tucker a white man was found frozen to death early this morning while sitting in a back on New street. Witnesses say he was placed in a vehicle by a bar patron to be driven and sobered up after a drunken episode. The coroner conducted an inquiry and released the man.
Raleigh Nov 26. Eugene Betts a young Henderson merchant was accidentally shot while hunting with friends. Robert Crockett fired at a rabbit and Betts received the fatal load to his back.
Special to the State Bennettaville Nov. 25 Henry Patrick was convicted of murder after a three day trial. The jury recommended mercy and life imprisonment. Patrick claimed accidental shooting while his wife sat on the bed. His young daughter Annie May testified at the inquest she heard curses and a gunshot though she was ruled incompetent. Patrick was found with bloody hands two hours after the homicide and later described the event as an accident. The jury deliberated about an hour and a half before the verdict.

Charlotte North Carolina November 27 a meeting of cotton manufacturers of the south has been called to assemble here December 8 to formulate a plan for curtailment of cotton production the call issued by the committee of North Carolina manufacturers and all mill men are interested
Miss Addie Pettigrew daughter of Hon J E Pettigrew was badly burned this morning when her dress caught fire. Doctor Covington attended and prognosis is doubtful as she fights to recover from the injuries. Florence reports indicate a grave condition following the accident.
The ad promises relief from a cold with the Guta Luxative Bromo Quinine tablets. It guarantees no cure no pay and lists a price of 25 cents.
Robert J. Hale, a government printing office compositor, killed his wife and then killed himself in their Washington home after learning of a physician's arrest in a local hospital girl's death. Hale, posing as the cousin of the patient, had been a suspect in the medical case.
