Open Letter Protests Dispensary Move by Senator Tillman
The letter from Dr. Cromer, published by Thelfoger editor Thurlow S. Carter, denounces the dispensary system in South Carolina. It argues liquor traffic harms schools and morals, calls the dispensary a threat to public education, and condemns Senator Tillman’s support as corrupt. It contrasts harsher visions from Kansas and South Carolina and urges a nonviolent reform stance while warning the dispensary will likely fail.
