Kershaw Homicide Case Details Bail Grant
Special to News and Courier reports bail granted yesterday by Associate Justice Jones to Policeman A Jeff Gregory of Kershaw charged with shooting W T Catoe after a confrontation at Catoe store. Eyewitnesses Watson and Davis describe Catoe shouting Hurrah for Kershaw and reaching for a gun before Gregory fired twice. The defendant in his affidavit claims duty, self defense, and prior malice from Catoe. other affidavits describe Catoe as often intoxicated and armed, leading to ongoing town tension and anticipated court action.
