Names appear for Railroad Commissioner Solicitor of the Circuit House of Representatives Clerk of Court Sheriff County Superintendent of Education County Auditor County Treasurer Supervisors Coroner Magistrates and misc offices. A stray note reports a chicken with no eyes and a dental style ad claims kidney and bladder relief with a herbal remedy.
A reader pleads with editor to publicize Senator Tillman as hostile to Christian preachers. The letter denounces Tillman for attacking churches and preachers, urges Christians to scratch his name, and condemns his remarks as blasphemous. It contrasts Tillman with Col Hoyt and cites The State’s coverage of Evans vs. Tillman and the Evans-Barlow race, claiming Tillman's defeat in several contests and predicting further battles in the race for the Senate.

Chester August 13 two farmers Bill Stroud and John Peaye quarreled over an old family dispute. Stroud retreated as Peaye beat him with a stick. Stroud drew a .38 pistol and fired three times, fatally wounding Peaye on Strouds premises before surrendering to the sheriff.

The ad promotes salve for cuts bruises burns boils and skin eruptions and claims a 26 cent price with guaranteed cure. Also reports a Saluda County burglary and horse stealing arrest and a penitentiary sentence.
