Kendrick Aids Wyo Farmers on Irrigation Charges
More than two hundred Wind River reservation settlers who bought irrigated land from Indians through the Indian Affairs office are relieved from paying further irrigation construction charges. Attorney General Daugherty ruled they had already paid the estimated construction cost as part of the purchase. Senator Kendrick had urged suspension and sought data showing the land sale terms included water-right and construction charge. The ruling ends the improper obligation and clears title, boosting land values. The action also applies to ceded and diminished portions of the reservation.
