Death Of J Mickelson Wealthy Lincoln County Stockman

James Mickelson a prominent stockman of Lincoln county died at his ranch near Big Piney Saturday morning after a lengthy illness. Born in Denmark 66 years ago he came west with varied work before taking charge of his own ranches. Once a Swan ranch cow puncher he saved money and built a fortune, becoming one of the state’s wealthiest taxpayers. His death leaves a bereaved family and a frontier legacy.

Jake Herschler Dies in Salt Lake City

A telephone message announced the death of Jake Herschler at 7 this morning in Salt Lake City. He had not been well for a year and settled on Fontenelle Creek years ago, where he built a large fortune with about 1400 acres of land and substantial cattle and sheep herds. He is survived by Mrs Herschler Ned and a married daughter, the wife of J P Fuller, cashier of Marbleton State Bank. Lincoln County loses a prosperous, well liked citizen.

Assessors Report Shows Lincoln County Tax Rate Decline

The assessor Rosenberg reports livestock values in Lincoln County fell since 1920 with sheep dropping from 9.47 to 4.82, cattle from 43.21 to 93.16, horses 60.14 to 41.00, mules 840.12 to 74.02 and hogs 12.24 to 7.54, while animal numbers also declined. Total land value rose slightly from 1920 to this year, with real estate and personal property totals listing alongside class land changes and a total valuation of 25,404,002.7% across property categories.

Charles Daniels age 25 prominent in the foreign colony was killed early this morning when a gravel train in the Fossil tunnel ran over him. He was emptying cars and his foot was caught by a wheel.
