Demobilizing Army Great Achievement
Washington August 30 The demobilization of our army to date is praised by Secretary Baker as a remarkable achievement surpassing Civil and Spanish war efforts. He notes 1,888,000 men returned from overseas by date, 351,206 demobilized in one month after the Armistice, and projections of fewer than 95,000 in France by September. The program proceeded alongside rapid enlistments and logistical challenges for rapid homeward movement.
