United court rules Uinta county keeps all assets

Judge David H. Craig ruled that Lincoln county receives none of the moneys or assets from Uinta county after the county division dispute. He found assets exceed liabilities but no statute for sharing assets, so Uinta retains public property and Lincoln must cover indebtedness. The decision estimates Uinta’s coffers will reach 50,000 to 75,000 after debts taxes and credits are settled. An appeal to the Supreme Court is planned within sixty days. Also reported: William Hawking killed his wife Margaret and wounded his daughter Pern after jealousy, firing into the yard where they stood with two companions. Hawking shot himself later and died.
