Fatality at Sublet Mine Claims Mike Shuita

The first accidental death at the Jet mine occurred last week when Mike Shuita, a driver, was killed while loading material after a car shifted and struck him, breaking his neck. Coroner’s inquest ruled accidental death. Shuita, 85, born in Hungary, had worked at Sublet for over three years and was a Local 2789 member. Funeral held at the Catholic church in Kemmerer with burial in Kemmerer cemetery. over 300 miners attended, led by the Sublet band. A special train carried about 80 mourners from Janesul for the service.
