A runaway man trip at Cumberland No 2 mine caused seven cars to drop back into the shaft. Two men died and about twenty were injured. Survivors were rushed to hospital as crews battled to rescue workers and tend the injured through the night. Funeral services were held for Pav il Salik and Dominik Simonceni in Kemmerer.
The text traces guide figures in Wyoming including John Delts and Joe Kettenduffer involved in furniture alignment papers. It notes Mr. Nelaun’s long presidency of the Jackson Mole and ownership of a first duty at Jackson, with ties to P. Cunningham and Moose Hora tanoh south of Yellowstone. The annual term of District Court for Lincoln county opened in Kemmerer with Judge David H. Craig presiding. Naturalization exams were held with Peter Gentleman Kirkwood and Andrew Muntonen among the first to pass. the courtroom and staff received praise for the new facilities. The docket was read, with several criminal cases scheduled, and many attorneys in attendance.
Wool sales occurred recently with prices from 16 to 17 cents per pound. The Crow Creek Sheep Co sold to Silverman Hires for 17 cents, Clyde Straughn sold to Webb & Co for 17 cents, Miller estate sold to Hecht Liebman Co for 16 cents, Rambler Sheep Co sold for 17 cents, and Andy Johnston sold to Grimmins & Pierce for 17 cents. City Drug Store offered ice cream sundaes and drinks.
