A Brief History of Kemmerer
Kemmerer grew from coal mining beginnings in 1894 with P. J. Quealy and M. S. Kemmerer shaping its rise. The town, named for Kemmerer’s benefactor, became a railroad hub with U S L yards and a roundhouse, and by 1911 served as Lincoln County seat. It features four churches, a strong school system, Lincoln County Miner's Hospital, and rapid growth with population near 1,517, plus planned street improvements and a $1.35 million assessed property value.
