Hartender Found Guilty In Local Assault Case
Jack Majors a bartender at the Arcade was found guilty of assault and battery in Justice Court by J W Glasgow last Friday. The witness J W Comstock a mine foreman from Utah testified that Majors knocked him down during lunch service in the saloon rear, after which Comstock claimed Majors used gas. Majors said an altercation occurred with Comstock who claimed to be a Government Backet Service man and Majors pushed him causing him to fall to the door. No action has been taken on a gambling charge.

Cecil B. Baldwin of Green River Valley refused to register claiming he was under twenty-one. Investigators found he claimed to be over twenty-one on April 21 1917 to marry, leading the Draft Board to consider perjury or legitimate age. Deputy Sheriff Everett Smith ordered Baldwin in for induction.
