Wyoming Ends Draft Calls As Nation Expands Army
Washington July 30 With the exhaustion of Claws One draft in Wyoming no more men will be called from the state for military service until claws one has been exhausted throughout the country according to plans of Provost Marshal General Crowder. Wyoming leads in draft administration and did not require an enlargement of class one. Registrants in second, third and fourth classes will not be called until all states follow the same sequence. When first class runs dry, deferments halt nationwide calls until Crowder authorizes further action. A new draft law by Secretary Baker extending ages may be enacted late in August. The twenty one year olds registered in June likely move to class one, while first draft calls remain unlikely for some time unless draft age extensions fail to boost the pool for a five million man army.
