J Parker Thompson, manager of the Lincoln Wyoming Petroleum Corp, closed talks with Julian Navarro of Havana to distribute a large block of Lincoln Wyoming stock to Cuban investors. Navarro, tied to a major Havana investment house, cited Cuba’s current prosperity from high sugar wine prices.

Hersman Incorporates Plans Townsite In Fossil Oil Field

At a stockholders meeting Hersman Corporation outlined a 200000 incorporation to develop a modern townsite in the Fossil oil area. Olaf Telson was elected president with W T Wood as vice president Ben Hell secretary and Chester Raymond Bunker general manager. The plan includes drilling 30 wells, building rental stores and a hotel funded by stock sales, plus a publicity drive by Wood Bunker & Co. Clergy buyers already purchased four lots signaling potential demand.

Superintendent Burch Heads to Atlantic City Convention

Kemmerer school district Superintendent J B Burch departed Thursday for Atlantic City N J to attend the U S national convention of superintendents. He will travel to Washington Chicago and Cheyenne for related school legislation work as president of the Wyoming State Teachers Association and a representative on several educational committees. The convention will focus on national education issues tied to the war and local school affairs.

Shriners Ceremonial Parade Draws Wide Cheyenne Attendance

The Ancient Arabic Order No Blowed of the Mystic Shrine Oasis of Rawlins Desert of Southern Wyoming held a large Shriners procession in Cheyenne with over 300 Shriners arriving by special train from Denver. Novices David Salmon and James Mickelson led calves in a parade, a grand ball filled the Masonic Temple, and a turkey dinner for 800 showcased the event’s festive tone as Cheyenne thanked the visiting nobles and Wyoming clubs.

Wounding Report Mixup In Lincoln County Name Errors

A report of a Lincoln County soldier wounded on the European front appears to confuse Elmer Wise with Elmer Child of Fairview. Wise is not listed as Co H nor from Fairview. another Fairview exists in the state. The real Co H member from Fairview is Elmer Child. The note suggests a surname error may have caused the misreport. Mr and Mrs James Mickelson visited Cheyenne to attend the Shriners entertainment event last weekend.

Casper Rigs Interest in Local Drilling Operations

The Casper rigs from Chamber and Bingenheimer and Fossil Petroleum operate in the Heela Wyoming Co and Fossil Petroleum fields. The Keystone rig is drilling at 250 feet in the second sands with oil and gas showings. Mr Bell plans to return to Casper next week with M G Dutton, president of Fossil Petroleum.

Patriotic Grade School Red Cross Unit Forms at Kemmerer

A large Junior Red Cross group with 228 members is organized at Kemmerer grade school. Despite some unable to pay 25 cents, total donations cover and many give extra. Children now wear Red Cross pins, with strong loyalty noted along with 60 Liberty Bonds and 1758 Thrift Stamps. 21 Senior Red Cross members also noted. Wm Julian, famed as the Foneil-sheep king, visited Tuesday.

John Boyd was brought in from Cokeville Monday with a fractured kneecap after a block of ice fell on him. He is under the care of Dr Stafford at Mineral hospital and receiving treatment.

Doctor in Runaway Team Incident in Kemmerer

Doctor in Runaway ur. T. HH. Roe fell from a team after a call to Elkol Sunday night. The horses bolted, threw him, and returned to the barn in Kemmerer. A rescuing party found him injured yet grateful, having walked a long distance.

Lincoln County Mine Hospital Directors Elected

At a subscribers meeting in the city hall a board of 11 directors was named to represent the donors. Elected were Wright Scofield A Mc King Tom Russell from Diamondville JM Faddies and Geo Macker Cumberland Wm Monay A French Kemmerer Gomer Reese and Lester Pratt Frontier Tom Holland Sublet and Ben Cawlishaw Buite. Newly elected officers will be installed and the board will meet Sunday March 10 to qualify. Watt Brandon and Jud Witherspoon were reelected as chairman and secretary and will call a June meeting for election of successors.

Death by Self Inflicted Gunshot in Diamondville Cabin

Rich McMinn reported a man named Mattie Matale found dead in a Diamondville railroad cabin. A revolver lay at the temple, indicating self harm. Matale, last seen Saturday afternoon after heavy drinking, was in a two-room cabin with a coworker. the partner alerted authorities after discovering the body. A German American Socialist membership card and a Christmas card from California were found. coroner's inquest postponed due to a prior dispatch.
