Mrs Lucy Tanner dies after three hour illness at Beckwith ranch

Mrs Lucy Tanner mother of County Assessor George Tanner died at the Tanner ranch near Beckwith after three hours of illness from heart trouble linked to indigestion. She passed away about midnight as Dr J R Marquis could not reach in time. Interment will be in Salt Lake City beside her husband. Survived by George Tanner and Shirley, plus other children including M Forgett and Mrs Collett. Funeral services planned in Salt Lake City this afternoon under the B D S church.

Wyoming boys relocate to Camp Mills barracks snowbound

Second Lieutenant Will O. Chamberlain writes from Camp Mills Long Island to set home readers straight about Wyoming boys now stationed there. He notes they are in good barracks with steam heat and electric lights, four inches of snow on the ground, and no cold suffering, informing families not to worry as winter advances. He closes with Christmas and New Year wishes.

Opening New Mine Near Glencoe by Lincoln Lumber

Victor Smith of the Lincoln Lumber company opens a new coal mine near Glencoe. Initial output will meet local demand, with about ten men employed. Coal is described as high grade and an automobile truck will haul it a quarter mile to the railroad. A temporary tipple is already completed.

Dance at Cokeville Brings Townites to Theatre

Archie Woogwara of Cokeville organized a Christmas Eve dance at the Cokeville theatre. Fred Jennings Fred Hancey and Misa Ziller played for the occasion drawing locals to the event.

Mr and Mrs George Tanner announce the arrival of a baby boy at their home last week. all are doing nicely.

Spring Surprise Wedding in Big Piney

Miss Sylvia Nordstrom and Mr. Robert H. Gunter, both residents of Big Piney, quietly wed last May in Green River after school was out. Nordstrom taught at Big Piney school while Gunter did carpentry. she resumed teaching there last fall, with the couple living in Big Piney. The couple plans to announce the marriage publicly at Christmas.

Lincoln Wyoming Petroleum Drills Eight Fossil Field Wells

Eight shallow wells in the Fossil field contracted by J Parker Thompson for the Lincoln Wyoming Petroleum company. Drilling to 400 feet, to start no later than February 1, 1918, with Chas Lackey awarded the contract and Keystone driller ordered. Separate filing inaugurates Wyoming Preferential Oil company backed by eastern capital, holding 320 acres in Fossil, 3000 acres in Uintah, and options on 7400 more. officers named in Salt Lake City.

Cretaceous President Responds To Lease Suit

Mr Charles P Budd president of the Cretarens Oil company speaks on the suit against the firm. He says officers and directors regret the action by Ridgley and Rigdon but seek to avoid delaying oil development. He notes stockholders authorized a lease to Cheyenne but insists no obligation exists without proof. The company seeks dissolution of the temporary injunction as a hearing looms. Mahlon Queasly returns home from Andover Mann for school.

Good Oil Lease Debuts in Lincoln County

The Kemmerer Brokerage Company, now in remodeled offices in the Camera Building, negotiated an oil lease on the T. D. O'Neil home ranch on Bir Piney and the old Rich ranch. W. T. Wood and C. K. Costello of Twin Falls, Maho, partnered. O'Neil keeps half the land with a one eighth royalty on oil produced. A standard rig is to be established by June, drilling to 2000 feet or until a commercial quantity is reached. This is hailed as one of Lincoln county's best oil leases to date.

Promoter Dutton Visits Casper Area for Oil Lands

Casper County broker Dutton of Dutton Staley Co visited Kemml last week to inspect oil lands and prospect for oil here. He returned with 80 to some valuable leases acquired through W. T. Wood of Idaho Wyoming Oil Co, including 640 acres in the Poxill Herd. A contract with Wood targets taking over acreage in the Vonwil district for two Na to be used and operations to begin in the Hie iney district under an O'Ne plan with large activity by June.

Diamondville Woman Convicted in Mann Act Case at Salt Lake City

A Diamondville woman named Mrs Horino was found guilty in federal court in Salt Lake City of transporting 16 year old Rosa Pocko from Winterquarters Utah to Diamondville for immoral purposes including dancing at Herino saloon. She faces about five years in federal penitentiary. Witnesses from Diamondville testified. ranches Mamondville Will Jensen and Amos Smith connected to Denver stock show plans.

Graduate Nurse Elizabeth Sneddon Returns Home

Miss Elizabeth Sneddon daughter of William Sneddon of Diamond Hill has returned from Salt Lake City where she prepared for nursing in the S D 8 hospital. She recently graduated and will do special nursing in the vicinity. She is currently tending a case in Bear Lake county Idaho.
