The Kemmerer school district under new superintendent Joseph E. Bureh plans extensive upgrades before next Tuesday’s opening. Renovations include new cement walks, improved access, interior repainting, floor updates, new blackboards, upgraded lavatories, and a rebuilt boiler room to raise sanitary standards.
The August report of the County Commissioners details the creation of Lincoln county by special commissioners appointed by Governor Carey. It records proof of appointments, minutes, and the June 1 1921 election results including 1611 for division and 182 against. Kemmerer town favored county division.

The Geological Survey classifies 66 000 214 acres of withdrawn government coal land as of August 1. About 16 873 370 acres hold workable coal beds. Valuations average 9711 902 537 in 40 acre tracts, with prices from 810 to over 400 per acre based on proximity to rail and bed thickness. Purchaser prices reflect depth and quality, with an acre containing 40 feet of coal providing about 72 000 tons and thicker beds yielding more. 80 feet at 400 per acre would cost under 8 cents per ton. Government proceeds go to the reclamation fund under irrigation laws.
